YEAR

Sephora product experience

Customers were struggling to discover the right products.

The existing experience created friction at several points in the journey. Customers had access to a huge product catalogue, but finding products relevant to their needs wasn't always straightforward.

The opportunity was to simplify discovery while creating a more personalised experience.

The data highlighted a clear opportunity.

68% drop-off at this stage
+23% potential conversion opportunity

Measure impact and iterate.

We found that customers needed more confidence, not more choice.

Analysis of behavioural data, customer feedback and usability sessions revealed a consistent pattern.

Research findings

Turning insight into a simpler experience.

We redesigned the experience around clearer hierarchy, stronger recommendations and more useful product information.

UX design exploration
BEFORE Previous experience
AFTER New experience

We put the hypothesis to the test.

The proposed experience was tested against the existing control to understand whether the changes created a measurable improvement.

THE RESULT

+18.4%

Conversion increased significantly against the control.

The experiment demonstrated that the new experience reduced friction and helped customers make decisions with greater confidence.

What we'd take into the next iteration.

01

Personalisation works best when it feels useful, not intrusive.

02

Small changes to hierarchy can have a measurable commercial impact.

03

Combining qualitative insight with behavioural data creates stronger hypotheses.
